(Cleveland, OH) Today the Toy Industry Association (TIA) released the list of finalists for the 2011 Toy of the Year (T.O.T.Y.) Awards. Creativity for Kids is proud to have its Shrinky Dinks® Deluxe kit nominated for this award program in the Specialty toy category. The T.O.T.Y. program recognizes excellence in product development and marketplace performance of toys in various categories. As CEO Jamie Gallagher indicates, “This recognition demonstrates the talent of our product development and graphics staff as they continue to deliver award winning products of exceptional quality that reflect current trends.”
Creativity for Kids product developers are always on the lookout for trends, and a current one is Shrinky Dinks®. Shrinky Dinks® Deluxe includes authentic Shrinky Dinks® film in a variety of designs popular with girls, such as flowers, cupcakes, hearts and butterflies. Color in the designs using the 8 color pencils in the kit, then shrink them in an oven. Use the pieces to make charm bracelets, gift tags, hair clips and more. The kit includes everything you need to do the project, including a pencil sharpener and hole punch.
The award program selection process was changed this year, so for the first time the 2011 Award winning products will be determined by a voting system that includes members of the TIA, plus retailers, consumers, and the media. Each voting group will be weighted and used to decide the category winners as well as the coveted overall "Toy of the Year" award. The winning products will be revealed at an awards ceremony in February 2011 in New York City during the American International Toy Fair.
